ENCORE

Project name: ENergy aware BIM Cloud Platform in a COst-effective Building REnovation Context - ENCORE
Project acronym: ENCORE
Dates: 01.01.2019 - 30.06.2022
Total budget: 5.562.382,50 EUR
Funding: EC Horizon 2020
Grant Agreement Number: 820434
Website: encorebim.eu

The main objective of ENCORE is to increase the share of renovated stock in Europe and worldwide by providing effective and affordable BIM tools that cover the whole renovation life-cycle (from data collection to project execution, and commissioning/delivery). ENCORE will also provide mechanisms for the dwellers or owners to validate the project, either on-site with Augmented/Mixed Reality solutions, or on-line. Once the project is validated, ENCORE will automatically generate the work planning for the construction works, and once finalized, ENCORE will provide continuous monitoring of the energy consumption to ensure the non-degradation of the renovation works.

News

On Tuesday, March 9th, 2022, the ENCORE consortium in collaboration with the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber organised the first workshop of the project in order to educate and inform the project’s stakeholders, located in Cyprus.

The event, titled “Business Information Modelling: Funded BIM projects in Cyprus – BIM & Innovation“, took place between 12:30 and 15:30 CET (13:30 – 16:30 Cyprus time) online, in the English language.

All the ENCORE subengines were be presented by the respective partners who have developed them. The full three-hour webinar can be viewed on the official ENCORE project page.

Christmas robot party

The Advent fever did not bypass the robots and drones that occupied the Maksimir Center for Culture and Information at Švarcova 18 on Wednesday, December 22, from 1 pm to 8 pm, and served visitors hot drinks and Christmas treats!

Our lab members introduced visitors to robots Franka, Pepper, Kinova, and Schunk in the Advent house in front of the Center who rolled up their sleeves to warm the visitors in these cold days and brighten the upcoming holidays.

Robots prepared and served hot drinks and Christmas treats, and at the same time in front of the Center, there were presentations of robots intended for primary and secondary school students where they learned firsthand how robots can communicate with plants and learn how to fly drones.

Pupils could also drive robots and make a 2D map or find out how artificial intelligence can warn us in a cheap and environmentally friendly way about the quality of air, soil, and water in our environment. They also learned how robots and plants communicate with each other and how a 3D model of a building model can be made with a drone.

Four parallel workshops were conducted during the entire day: LIDAR workshop, WatchPlant workshop, ASAP/ENCORE workshop, HEKTOR workshop.

More photos from the event are available in the gallery.

The 1st AIRPHARO Workshop on Aerial Robotic Systems Physically Interacting with the Environment (AIRPHARO 2021) was held on October 4th and 5th in Biograd na Moru, Croatia. The conference was sponsored by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) and the AeRoTwin european project.

LARICS' PhD student Juraj Oršulić presented a scientific paper in person:

J. Oršulić, R. Milijas, A. Batinovic, L. Markovic, A. Ivanovic, S. Bogdan, "Flying with Cartographer: Adapting the Cartographer 3D Graph SLAM Stack for UAV Navigation".

The adaptations described in this paper are used in the ENCORE project to achieve autonomous UAV navigation.

The 1st review meeting successfully...

On 25th September 2020 ENCORE consortium participated in the 1st review meeting that has been held on-line due to the pandemic.

The meeting went very well and based on the technical details in the deliverables and explanations provided by the consortium during the review meeting, the reviewer believes that results with high degree of exploitability are being developed in the ENCORE project. According to a periodic report, ENCORE has suffered a delay of approximately four months due to the COVID-19 crisis, therefore, some deliverables have been delayed. This is not a major drawback, but as there is a risk that the crisis might reoccur, the risk and an appropriate mitigation plan should be devised.

Successful execution of data...

LARICS main task in ENCORE is to develop Data Acquisition Service (DAS) as a part of BIM based Support Tools. DAS is considered as an External System that belongs to the Data Sources layer within the ENCORE architecture. As a part of the Data Sources layer, UAVs should autonomously collect point-clouds and photographs that will be uploaded into the Data Capture layer for off-line processing in the ENCORE Engine.

DAS validation in Gazebo simulator has been successfuly completed, followed by experiments in real environment at the University campus Borongaj.

Project ENCORE Kick-off meeting

Our team's representatives, Matko and Stjepan, went to Spain to the beautiful city of Cáceres, where they will take part in the Kick-off meeting for one of our newest projects, ENCORE - ENergy aware BIM Cloud Platform in a COst-effective Building REnovation Context. There, they are meeting with the project partners and coordinators, and are discussing the plans for the project, their goals, ideas for the future, etc. Their main goal in the following years is to increase the share of renovated stock in Europe and worldwide by providing effective and affordable BIM tools that cover the whole renovation life-cycle. We wish them all a great start and successful project!
