Excellent news for LARICS in the first days of New Year! The project proposal “Exploration robot for fire fighting units” that was prepared in collaboration with Ziegler d.o.o. Zagreb and submitted to the National Foundation for Science, Higher Education and Technological Development of the Republic of Croatia (NZZ), has been positively assessed by international reviewers and accepted for funding during a two-year period (2008/09).
The main objective of the project is to build a mobile robot for use in fire fighting units for the exploration of buildings in case of fire, earthquake or other disasters. The aim of the robot is to explore unknown buildings, detect various sources of danger (explosive gases, various obstacles etc.), and locate people possibly hurt in the accident before the firemen start their intervention.
